Laser Hair Removal NYC - What Government Agency Controls Laser and Electrolysis?

Q. What government agency controls businesses that perform laser hair removal procedures and electrolysis used to remove hair?

A. Why it's the FDA of course, specifically the Center for Devices and Radiological Health within the FDA.

According to the FDA, lasers are prescription equiptment and need to be used by licensed personnel only. So, when booking your laser hair removal appointment, one of the first questions you may want to ask is, " Do you have a current license to do laser hair removal procedures?"

Also, make sure that the license is current and that the practitioner carries malpractice insurance too.
